Workshop: Top Ten Tools for Working on a Bicycle

  • Bikerowave 12255 Venice Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90066 United States (map)

Have you ever wondered what all the different tools on Bikerowave's tool wall actually do? Well, we don't have time to go over each and every one, but Head Mechanic Shane will give you insight into the top ten tools you should know about to work on your bike.

-What's the difference between a hex key and an Allen wrench, and who's Allen anyway?
-Why do bolts on bicycles often get stripped easily?
-What do you do when you don't have the right tool on hand?
-What the hell is a crank extractor?
... and, most importantly,
-What do you do with that bottle of Tapatio?

This workshop is designed for those who have some basic knowledge of brake and derailleur adjustment and is designed to complement our Basic Bicycle Maintenance and Tune Ups workshop on May 19, but people of all skill levels are welcome to attend!

You may bring your own bicycle and tools along to the workshop, but it is not required. We have plenty of bicycles, parts, and tools to practice with.

A selection of our favorite bicycle tools will be available for purchase at this event should you so desire!

Suggested donation: $15 (but nobody turned away for lack of funds). Proceeds go toward keeping Bikerowave up and running!
