Meet Edgar Garcia
Born and raised in So Cal and loves anything outdoors or sports related…except for the walking sport in the Olympics, that's kinda weird. Grew up in the good old’ 90s playing in the streets and coming in when the street lights came on. He now resides with his family a bit more inland but still tries to stay active on a daily basis. Take it away good sir….
Yo, what’s up. I like to live a casual lifestyle so I will keep this profile short, sweet and fun. Grew up on the streets of LA but moved inland in junior high. As mentioned above, I grew up in the great era of the 90’s where we played on the streets from sunrise to sundown. We would make bike jumps out of trash cans and plywoods and ghost ride our Huffy bikes down the streets.
How did you get into cycling?
I wouldn’t say I am into cycling 100%. The sport has always intimidated me since everyone I see has a full compression suit and is riding a $8,000 bike.
I have always played sports and got into running young. I ran the LA marathon a few years back, which I will never do again…once is enough! I bought a TREK 4300 Hardtail MT bike that I swore I would ride every day. After a few rides and many spills, the bike ended up in my garage for a while.
All of my buddies got into cycling since most lived in LA. This was a chance to bring my MT bike out of retirement … a bike is a bike right? … Wrong!!!
We rode from Union Station in Los Angeles to Santa Monica. While my pals were enjoying the cool ride, I was fighting friction from my knobby tires on the asphalt!
I recently decided to invest in a modest road bike that I can hopefully use a lot more.
What is Biciamour to you?
In short, it's nice to have a group of people taking them under wings and introducing you to a healthier and more adventurous lifestyle on two wheels. I hope to become more active and definitely ride more with this group and hopefully meet new people along the way.
I love the fact that we are not professional cyclist and don't take ourselves to serious but still enjoy group rides to the nearest coffee shop or brewery.
Any other hobbies?
I love traveling, finding a good place to eat or grab a brew. I love all thing sports and any activity we can do outside.
Where have you been and where is your favorite place to travel?
I've been to Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Germany, and Thailand.
Thailand is by far the best place I have traveled to!!! The people are great the food is amazing and it is super affordable. This is a place everyone should visit.
What advice do you have for those that just bought their bike, clip-ins, and spandex?
Well, I don’t have clip-ins or spandex and I ride in running shorts and running shoes. I would tell them and myself to just get out with some friends and smell the fresh air. Ride to a nice coffee spot, sit outside, turn your phones off and enjoy life.
My mentality is riding 1 mile is better than sitting on your couch, So get up and go!
Words to live by?
Throw Caution to the Wind, meaning don’t be scared to try something new or meet someone new. Get out of your comfort zone and experience life!
